Do you have sewing skills?

Do you want to support Sewing Rebellions in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and your own communities?


Then Frau Fiber wants you to be a leader in her resistance army of sewers, by becoming a Faux Frau!


  • You will learn how to operate all the machines at the Institute 4 Labor Generosity Workers & Uniforms!
  • Learn how to share your sewing knowledge!
  • Learn how to instruct basic sewing skills!
  • Learn how to create written instructions!


Upon completion of this course participants will be awarded an official certificate of Sewing Rebellion operations, a replica of Frau Fiber’s cap and Sewing Rebellion patches.

ILGWU presents TAILOR MADE: First Sample.


A durational performance in which Frau Fiber offers tailoring services to the public: altering, mending, and producing garments.  You the customer spins the Wheel of Wages* plus the cost of materials needed will determine the cost of your tailoring!


Hours of operation February 8-28:

Saturday Feb. 8, 6-10 pm

Thursday Feb. 20, 6-9 pm

Wednesday Feb. 12, 19, 26; 12-6 pm

Friday Feb. 14, 21, 28; 12-6 pm.

An exhibition of quilts from Frau Fiber’s archive, featuring Revolution Textiles:  Sewing with the People and a Stitch in Time.  These two commemorative quilts engaged the public in a dialog reclaiming lost histories in Chicago, IL and Greensboro NC.  In conjunction with the quilts material cultural from the archives the quilts were inspired by will be exhibited.

During the opening on 2nd Saturday and on 3rd Thursday you are invited to join Frau Fiber in stitching a commemorative quilt from textiles collected in 2007, for the restoration of New Orleans post Katrina.
